Day Twenty Six

No Haggai 3:16; No Zachariah 3:16
Malachi 3:16 (ESV)
Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.

Malachi (which means in Hebrew “my messenger”) delivers a prophecy to a people who are not worshipping idols, they have just lost their heart in worshipping the Living God and living in accord with the covenantal relationship. Their worship has become an act of going through the motions where they are caught in a rut. Their lives are on autopilot where they do the right things, but for no reason.

The Lord through Malachi is calling them back to remember God. It is a wakeup call!

You know how in the morning, when the alarm goes off to wake you up and you reach over and turn it off and roll over and go back to sleep, this is how some responded to Malachi. Others woke up and are the ones recorded in the book of remembrance.

John 3:16 is an alarm clock going off in our lives and it is time to wake up!
