May 2018

The church board has many exciting things to share with you and thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve you. As you read last month one of the things we are focused on is making sure you have timely information on what is happening in our LCM faith community. One of the most exciting areas of news is the expansion of our Pastoral team. As you know, we have a new pastor, Jonathan Haseley, joining us with a focus on our East Campus. Rachael and Jonathan visited us at East Campus the last weekend in April and plan to join us full time in July.

Now we have the privilege of sharing with you the recommendation of a pastor focused on our West Campus, Rev. Mario Alejandre. Our call committee has remained faithful to their mission of finding a pastor that fits our congregational needs at the West Campus as well as compliments our Pastoral team. Look for a letter announcing the Congregational meeting and providing information to help you learn more about Rev. Mario. We thank the call committee for their many hours of dedication. We ask for your prayers as we prepare for the congregational meeting and look forward to having all of you join us May 6th.

Just in time to complement our new Pastoral staff we are nearing completion on 2 new tools to grow our Faith communities. The first is a new welcome process for the first 90 days of welcoming new people joining our faith community. For those of you that attended Easter Sunday at the West Campus you probably saw some of what we have in store with the welcome packages and red badges.

The second tool is a new Church application allowing you to have access to Church information on the go and providing new ways of keeping in touch. The application will be ready in May and we will offer sessions to introduce you to this application in the coming weeks.

We also have great news regarding the building maintenance campaign – we are preparing to move ahead with key maintenance needed at both of our campuses. We have parking lot work planned for each campus and hope to be able to complete the work this summer. We have sod coming for the West Campus. Finally, we have moved forward with the plans to replace our leaking roof at the East Campus. Bids have been solicited and we hope to share a time line with you by next month’s newsletter.

Lastly, our staff and the board continue to look at our campuses with an eye to making our campuses as safe and inviting as we can make them. As you know, we have already made changes to the children’s areas. We continue to evaluate additional security steps that could be taken and the expense involved in doing so.
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” – Galatians 5:13
